Cecilia Haddad's ex-partner has confessed in a Brazilian court to killing the businesswoman in Sydney in 2018.
Haddad's body was found in the Lane Cove River on April 29 of that year.
Days later, following the discovery of her abandoned red Fiat at West Ryde train station, and with detectives learning she'd missed a string of appointments, a murder investigation was launched.

Santoro was arrested in Brazil in July 2018 and charged with Haddad's murder.
After a number of delays, Santoro's trial began in Brazil this week.
On Wednesday, he gave a detailed confession about what took place inside her Ryde apartment when she died.
Santoro said he entered Haddad's apartment without her permission, and the pair got into an argument.
He said he wanted to shut her up, grabbed her neck, and pressed very strongly until she fell into his arms.

In the Brazilian judicial process, the confession does not lead directly to sentencing.
A jury of seven people will continue to hear evidence until they have reached a verdict over a two-day process.
If convicted and jailed, Santoro will serve his sentence in Brazil, which has no extradition treaty with Australia.
