Victoria has recorded 73 coronavirus cases and another 41 deaths overnight.
Today's deaths include 22 people who died in the weeks leading up to August 27 and were reported to DHHS by aged care facilities yesterday.
There were 19 people who died of COVID-19 overnight.
The drop in figures comes as the state recorded 114 new COVID-19 cases yesterday and a further 11 deaths.
LIVE UPDATES: Economic crisis could kill more than coronavirus
https://twitter.com/VicGovDHHS/status/1300224647548542977Premier Daniel Andrews is expected to give a coronavirus update at a press conference later today.
Pressure is mounting for the premier to provide a roadmap out of the state's strict lockdown measures which are due to end on September 13, as new figures revealed today show widespread economic devastation.
About 400,000 people will either lose their jobs or see their hours reduced in Victoria, bank spending is down by 30 per cent - compared with just three per cent across the rest of the country and hospitality spending has dropped by 60 per cent.
Accommodation spending has also fallen by 80 per cent as industries and businesses continue to suffer under lockdown.
"I think Victorians are fed up. We're hearing from Victorians about the impact that the stage four restrictions are having on their mental health and well-being," Treasurer Josh Frydenberg told Today.
"Business is very frustrated because they haven't been told when can they open up, when can people get back to work.
"The stage four restrictions are having a huge impact and Victorians need to hear more about the road out rather than hearing more about a longer road in."
Mr Andrews previously said it was too early to decide on a definitive roadmap on easing restrictions, but stressed numbers were still "too high" to exit stage four lockdown.
The premier is set to meet with business leaders today in order to iron out the roadmap out of lockdown.
There will also be a crucial vote in the Victorian parliament tomorrow, as the state government attempts to push through a bill to extend its state of emergency powers.
"It is frustrating, I completely appreciate that, that is the nature of this virus, it is very, very difficult to plan ahead, it is very difficult to bring certainty to something that travels so quickly, something that is as wildly infectious as this," Mr Andrews said yesterday.
"We are not able to provide a detailed roadmap with the sort of certainty that I would want.
"We will defeat this. We will make announcements soon about the path ahead. But we still have to see further days of these numbers dipping, and we want them to come down to a very low number."
A group of anti-lockdown protesters yesterday clashed with police in Melbourne's north as almost 200 more Victorians were fined for breaching restrictions.
Dozens of demonstrators spent the afternoon throwing flares and rocks at officers along Pascoe Vale Road at Meadow Heights, with some of the alleged offenders underaged.
A 22-year-old man and an 18-year-old man, both from Broadmeadows, as well as a 17-year-old boy from Craigieburn were arrested during the demonstration.
Protests also took place in Dandenong in Melbourne's south-east last night, with five people fined.
