A Sydney carer has been charged over the "grossly negligent" death of an elderly man three years ago.
Emergency crews were called to a unit on Ewart Street, Marrickville after an elderly man was found dead on the floor on the night of June 14, 2017.
A post-mortem examination determined the 76-year-old's cause of death was pneumonia.
Following a lengthy investigation, detectives arrested a 46-year-old man at a home in Marrickville on Wednesday morning.
Police allege the man, who was acting as the victim's carer at the time of the death, was grossly negligent in his duty of care for the man.
He was charged with manslaughter and has been refused bail – to appear at Newtown Local Court today.
