Police offer $1 million reward for suspected murder of Melbourne mum

A $1 million reward is on offer to solve the suspected murder of a Melbourne mother 25 years ago.

Shari Davison, who was 27 at the time, was reported missing by her employer on February 21, 1995.

The night before she went missing, Ms Davison was seen leaving a strip club in Dandenong at 10.50pm with a female colleague on February 17.

They went to Croydon to visit a sporting club before travelling to the Mentone Hotel, where they stayed until 1am with two men.

Ms Davison and one of the men, who was her boyfriend at the time, left the hotel and went back to a home in Hampton, where they stayed until 2am before taking a taxi to Crown Casino.

The last sighting of her was at 7am when Ms Davison's boyfriend left Crown Casino.

It is believed Ms Davison left the casino about 7.40am and travelled home to Footscray in a taxi.

Police believe Ms Davison made two phone calls sometime between midday and 2pm from a public phone box at a service station on Ballarat Road in Footscray.

One of the calls was to her employer confirming she would be at work that evening, however Ms Davison never arrived.

The second call was to her boyfriend, arranging to meet him to collect personal items including her mobile phone charger.

Detectives hope someone will come forward now the reward has been increased to $1 million, up from $50,000.

"At the time of her death, Shari had a loving family and a young son who misses her very much and still deserves answers," Detective Inspector Andrew Stamper said.

"It is unimaginable to try and understand what Shari's family have had to live through over these years.

"People's circumstances can change over the years and someone who may not have wanted to provide information to police previously may now feel ready to do so."
