The Australian Tax Office website is crashing as thousands attempt to lodge tax returns on the first day of the new financial year.
Users have reported experiencing delays when accessing the website, with some receiving a message notifying them of a high volume of traffic causing lengthy wait times.

People have taken to social media posting videos and photos of the website struggling to load.
One user reported waiting more than 25 minutes to access the site.
