A 23-year-old man has narrowly escaped serious injury after being attacked by a crocodile while fishing on the Glyde River near an outstation southeast of the Ramingining.
Police said the man was fishing in waist deep water about 5.00pm yesterday when he was grabbed from behind by a 1.8-metre crocodile.
The man held onto nearby mangroves during the ordeal before the crocodile released him and swam away.
The man suffered several deep lacerations to his upper thigh but miraculously did not receive any life-threatening injuries.
He was treated at a local clinic before being transported to Darwin.
