Canberra Raiders star recruit pleads not guilty to assaulting police

Canberra Raiders star recruit Curtis Scott has pleaded not guilty to six charges in a Sydney court this morning over an alleged incident with police on Australia Day.

The 22-year-old league player faced court for the first time today, and his lawyer Danny Eid said they will defend the charges "to the last breath".

Mr Eid entered not guilty pleas to six charges including two counts of assaulting a police officer.

He also successfully had his bail varied so he could enter the Moore Park precinct, where the NRL's headquarters are housed.

Police have alleged that they found Scott acting erratically on Driver Avenue about 12.45am on Monday. He is accused of kicking and punching an officer before being tasered and taken to Surry Hills Police Station.

More to come…
